Besides having a Master’s degree in Counselling, she has been serving as a Committee Member with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing) Singapore from 2018-to 2020. She is certified in EMDR, a clinically proven psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for treating trauma. She is trained in Brainspotting, a therapy that uses spots in a person's visual field to help them process trauma.

Her training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy helps clients with Borderline Personality Disorder to manage painful emotions and interpersonal conflicts. Grace is also an accredited facilitator for Prepare/Enrich Marriage Program and Taylor-Johnson’s Temperament Analysis (T-JTA ®), which is a widely used personality assessment for individual, pre-marital, and marital counselling as well as a certified trainer with ACLP.

Grace has experience counselling in the church and has conducted mental health and self-care workshops and facilitated divorce support groups. Some of her experiences include conducting counselling courses for the church’s lay leaders to equip them to become better people helpers.

Prior to counselling work, she had over a decade of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. This has helped her empathize with the stress and anxiety that the corporate world entails.

Grace has extensive experience working with individuals suffering from depression/mood disorders, anxiety, trauma/abuse, divorce, infidelity, family conflict, relationship issues, self-harming, suicidal ideations, and grief.

Her therapeutic style involves helping you arrive at insight and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive changes in your life.  It is important that you are making progress on the goals that you have set for yourself. She will be there to guide you, and encourage you, as you embark on this journey together.

ABOUT EMDR

Guiding You On the Path of Self-Healing

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is a therapy model that has been proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma.
EMDR therapy is founded on the basis that our emotional well-being is interwoven with our physical (somatic) state. Therefore, EMDR employs a body-based technique called bilateral simulation during which a therapist will guide a client through through eye movements, tones, or taps in order to move a memory that has been incorrectly stored to a more functional part of the brain.
During trauma our brain processes and stores memories incorrectly. This incorrect storage can lead to past memories feeling very present. Related or unrelated stimuli in the present can lead to clients reacting as they did at the time of trauma. The brain feels if the past disturbing event is happening currently.
EMDR therapy corrects this mis-storage so that the painful memories associated with the trauma lose their charge. The client can react to stimuli in the present without the past interfering.

"As a counsellor, Grace was very patient and gentle during the counselling sessions. She demonstrated a sense of genuine concern for my well-being and was able to create a warm and safe atmosphere for me to share about my problems. Being an experienced counsellor, she was able to provide guidance to facilitate my processing and help me to develop practical handles for coping with my issues. I emerged from those sessions feeling more empowered to face the challenges ahead. Grace's willingness to patiently journey together helped me to regain the confidence I needed to face what was ahead and eventually find my breakthrough. As I looked back to those counselling sessions, I am filled with utmost gratitude for the support and care rendered by Grace to me during those difficult times"

"Grace was an excellent marriage and personal counsellor for me. She helped me to bridge the differences with my wife and communicate with her better. She was also a great pillar of strength when I went through some personal struggles."

Wilson Foo

"Grace is a great counsellor with a lot of experience. She is an empathetic listener who is very easy to confide in. I initially put off going for counselling because I was often worried about being judged but Grace proved me wrong. She is highly professional and taught me various cognitive behavioural techniques that helped me work through my issues, and enabled me to reframe those issues so that I could overcome them better. While it was hard work, she patiently worked through them with me. I highly recommend her professional services!"

Elaine
